Diplacido Development out of Wrentham has a proposal to build a 40b project on Lawrence Road in Norfolk near Bush Pond on the old Buckley and Mann site. There are two names to the project being presented. The names are The Preserve at Abbyville and Abbyville Commons.

There is a  total of 148 single-family homes and 49 apartments being eyed for the 9-acre parcel off Lawrence Street, where Buckley and Mann had been located.

From the Sun Chronicle article dated June 4 2017  – “Of the 148 homes, 56 would be four-bedroom, 60 three-bedroom, and 32 two-bedrooms age-restricted homes. Thirty-seven of the homes would be classified as affordable to meet the 25 percent minimum for the state law.

Also included in the proposal are rental units: 48 apartments, 46 of which would be in 23 duplex buildings, and two single-family homes. A dozen of those units would be affordable. Massachusetts Laws relative to affordable housing are called 40b.  The 40b laws were created in 1969 as way to streamline the development process for developers who are looking to develop in towns where there is less than 10% affordable housing.

The 40B process falls under the jurisdiction of MassHousing.
