Michael Mahoney eXp Realty Realtor Mentor Notes March 29th on Blogging and Building a Platform

I was asked yesterday by one of the agents I mentor as an eXp Agent,  what web site should I focus on. Here was the exact question "With having a website in Kunversion, CINC, and our personal websites, what do you recommend we focus more on building and marketing to/from?"

I always have held the belief that you need to control your own platform.
For a very long time, I have achieved a ton of success from blogging.
Early on in my blogging career, I secured a 1.6mm buyer.
The buyer was referred to me from her father who was a Realtor in Florida.
That same buyer ended up selling a piece of land through me which sold for 700k.
Not bad...2.3mm in volume from a blog post.

The blog that was used at the time was hosted on Activerain. To this day, I still use activerain.

After a short time of being successful with that blog, I started another one. The URL is www.TheGreaterBostonVoice.com and that is hosted on Typepad.
It worked and I did get lot's of business through it. I still get calls and inquiries from posts on that that platform.

Today, RealtorMikeMahoney.com is a blog with an IDX. An IDX is the software that allows users to search for listings etc.

At eXp, they give you a WordPress platform with the Kunversion IDX. If I were planning to do anything for a long time, I would start to blog on that.
That will give you exposure. I would also make sure that your CINC, Kunversion and any other sites have pointers to your blog.
You need to blog frequently.

I would also suggest looking at blogging on Activerain. It will give you huge exposure. It has great domain authority. They also have some great templates for blogging.  See the Activerain blogging templates here.

Bill Gassett is a Massachusetts Realtor with Remax who crushes blogging. I would check him out. If you go to plus.google.com and search for Bill Gassett you will find him. Here is an article by Bill Gassett on Blogging here.

 

As far as understanding the importance of a platform in real estate, I would Google search for Ryan Fletcher and Platform.

You ought to consider blogging. Facebook is great, but they own it. I see an agent I know putting up video on Facebook. That's great, but they should be on Youtube and then posted on a blog he owns. Worse, he has all his eggs in his brokerages basket. He goes, so does his web site.

RealtorMikeMahoney.com has been through three companies and each time all that was swapped was a logo and a company name. That is controlling the platform.

As an example on how to blog, I took this question from one of mentorees who I mentor at eXp Realty I then answered the question in the form of a blog post as shown here.  Now I will spin this blog post out onto the Facebook Workplace Group I manage for training. Now I can use this to mentor others, I will post on Activerain as a way to recruit others to JOIN eXp.  This content will also give me exposure to my MakeitRainNow.com web site where I teach agents how to develop relationships using Sendoutcards as a Realtor

And finally, as you will see below...I threw in some listings in Boston to help perpetuate my message that I am a Boston Realtor with eXp.
